How We Met

We met through a dating app and after a few weeks of texting, we finally met in person. Our first date was electric and we didn't want it to end. We kept extending the night from mediocre pasta, to a ride on Muni, to a Christmas themed bar, to a dive bar, and finally to our favorite 24 hour establishment, Bob's Donuts.

Early on we spent time cooking for each other, taking care of Petunia, and taking trips to Joshua Tree, Barcelona, and Tahoe. Maria introduced Anthony to her family's football league (which he became MVP of) and Anthony introduced Maria to his family over dinner when they were in town.

Falling in Love

Our shared love of cooking, eating, and exploring brought us closer. We have been lucky enough to travel the world together, sharing so many experiences that have shaped who we are.

Over the last four years we have brought our friends and family close together through dinner parties and trips. We have started birding and biking together, and continue to find new ways to become closer.

The Proposal

On a trip to Switzerland, we were hiking down the alps and found a bench in the middle of nowhere. The moment was right and we decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

Anthony hadn't planned ahead, but the moment felt so right. A few months later, after securing a ring, we spent a few weeks visiting family and friends throwing surprise engagement parties. It felt so special to share the moment with everyone in person.

Join us for a weekend of love and celebration at Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa. Here's what we have planned for our wedding weekend.

???, Shangri-La Boracay

Boracay is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, known for its powdery white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Here's everything you need to know to get there.

Getting to Boracay

By Air

Fly into Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH) in Caticlan, the closest airport to Boracay. Direct flights are available from Manila (1 hour) and Cebu. You can also fly into Kalibo International Airport (KLO), which is about 1.5-2 hours from the Caticlan Jetty Port by land.

Boat Transfer

From the Caticlan Jetty Port, take a short 10-15 minute boat ride to Boracay Island. Boats run frequently throughout the day. The environmental fee and terminal fee are included at the port.

🚕

To the Resort

Shangri-La Boracay offers private resort transfers from the Cagban Jetty Port on Boracay. Contact the resort to arrange your pickup, or take a short tricycle ride.

Where to Stay

The Lind Boracay

A modern luxury resort on Station 1 with beautiful beachfront rooms and a rooftop infinity pool. About 10 minutes from Shangri-La.

Crimson Resort & Spa

An upscale resort on the quieter northern end of the island with private beach access, spacious rooms, and excellent dining options.

Discovery Shores Boracay

An award-winning resort on White Beach offering spacious suites, butler service, and one of the best spas on the island.

Good to Know

Weather

March is dry season in Boracay with sunny skies, low humidity, and temperatures around 25-30°C (77-86°F). Perfect beach weather!

Currency

The Philippine Peso (PHP) is the local currency. Most resorts and restaurants accept credit cards, but it's good to have some cash for smaller shops and tricycle rides.

Visa

Most nationalities can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days. Check with your country's embassy for specific requirements.

What to Pack

Sunscreen (reef-safe!), light clothing, swimwear, a nice outfit for the wedding, comfortable sandals, and your dancing shoes!

Venue Location

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. We know that traveling to Boracay is a big commitment with a large cost, so we truly do not want or expect any gifts. Having you there to celebrate with us is more than enough.

For those of you who have insisted on giving, you can send us something via Venmo or PayPal if you'd like to contribute to our honeymoon. But please know, we mean it when we say your presence is all we need.

When and where is the wedding?

Our wedding ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 7, 2027 at X:00 PM at the Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa in Boracay, Philippines. The reception will follow immediately after.

What is the dress code?

Tropical formal! Think lightweight suits in linen or cotton for men, and flowy dresses or elegant resort-wear for women. TODO: List options like a barong and link to our pintrest board

How do I get to Boracay?

Fly into Caticlan Airport (MPH) from Manila or Cebu, then take a 10-15 minute boat ride to Boracay Island. Shangri-La offers private transfers from the Boracay jetty. See our Travel page for full details!

Do I need a visa to travel to the Philippines?

Most nationalities (including US, UK, Canada, Australia, and EU citizens) can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days. Please check with your country's Philippine embassy or consulate for specific requirements and make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying at Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa where the wedding will take place. We've arranged a special group rate for our guests. TODO: How do they get the rate? What are some other hotel options that have a boat?

What's the weather like in Boracay in March?

March is one of the best months to visit Boracay! It's peak dry season with plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and temperatures around 77-86°F.

Can I bring a plus one?

We've done our best to accommodate everyone! Please refer to your invitation for details on plus ones. If your invitation says "and guest," you're welcome to bring someone.

Are children welcome?

TODO: what are the restrictions on rooms for kids? Do we know if there are babysitters on the island or as part of the hotel service?

What should I pack?

Reef-safe sunscreen, light and breathable clothing, swimwear, comfortable sandals, your wedding outfit, dancing shoes, a light cover-up for evenings, insect repellent, and any medications you may need.

Is there a gift registry?

Your presence truly is the greatest gift, especially since you'll be traveling to celebrate with us! If you'd like to give a gift, we've set up a small registry and honeymoon fund, check out our Registry page for details. Please don't feel any obligation at all.

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by July 30, 2026 so we can finalize all the arrangements. Since this is a destination wedding, the earlier you can confirm, the better. Especially for booking flights and accommodations at the best rates!

Will there be activities besides the wedding?

Yes! We're hosting a welcome party on Friday evening, a boat excursion on Saturday, and an informal farewell brunch on Monday morning. Boracay also offers incredible activities like island hopping, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kiteboarding, and some of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see. We'll share a list of recommended activities closer to the date.

Please let us know if you can make it by July 30, 2026 so we can finalize all the arrangements.
