We're getting married!
March 5–7, 2027 • Shangri-La Boracay, Philippines
How it all began
We met through a dating app and after a few weeks of texting, we finally met in person. Our first date was electric and we didn't want it to end. We kept extending the night from mediocre pasta, to a ride on Muni, to a Christmas themed bar, to a dive bar, and finally to our favorite 24 hour establishment, Bob's Donuts.
Early on we spent time cooking for each other, taking care of Petunia, and taking trips to Joshua Tree, Barcelona, and Tahoe. Maria introduced Anthony to her family's football league (which he became MVP of) and Anthony introduced Maria to his family over dinner when they were in town.
Our shared love of cooking, eating, and exploring brought us closer from the very beginning. Over the past five years, we've built a life centered around bringing friends and family together - through dinner parties, trips, and countless shared meals.
We've been lucky to travel the world together, collecting experiences that have shaped who we are, both individually and as a couple. We've traveled to 12 countries together and countless cities: learning to make THE four Roman pastas in Rome, island hopping in the Philippines, eating at both the world's fanciest McDonald's in Lisbon and the world's number-one-ranked restaurant in Barcelona, dancing until sunrise at a club in Berlin we were convinced wouldn't let us in and somehow, falling more in love along the way.
Of all the places we've been, we cherish our home in San Francisco most. We love slow mornings at the farmers market, discovering new restaurants, and recently, birding and biking together. No matter where we are, we're always finding new ways to grow closer.
On a trip to Switzerland, we were hiking down the alps and found a bench in the middle of nowhere. The moment was right and we decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
Anthony hadn't planned ahead, but the moment felt so right. A few months later, after securing a ring, we spent a few weeks visiting family and friends throwing surprise engagement parties. It felt so special to share the moment with everyone in person.

Your guide to getting to Boracay
Boracay is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, known for its powdery white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Here's everything you need to know to get there.
We recommend flying into Manila (MNL) and connecting to Caticlan Airport (MPH) — the airport for Boracay. The flight from Manila to Caticlan is about 1 hour and operates multiple times daily.
Manila's airport (MNL) has four separate terminals that are not connected by walkways, so you'll need to transfer between them by car, taxi, or bus to catch your domestic flight to Caticlan (MPH). Most US carriers arrive at Terminal 3, and your domestic flight will depart from Terminal 3 (Cebu Pacific) or Terminal 2 (Philippine Airlines). Plan for at least 3-4 hours between your international arrival and domestic departure, as you'll need to clear immigration, collect bags, and re-check in. To get between terminals, the airport has a free shuttle (look for "Terminal Transfer Bus" signs and have your boarding pass ready), or you can take a Grab or taxi for around 200-400 pesos. The fastest and most reliable option is Grab, which is the Uber of the Philippines.
Once you land in Caticlan, your hotel may provide a ferry to the island as part of your booking. The Shangri-La and Discovery Shores both provide a shuttle and ferry to the island, just let them know your flight details and they'll handle the rest. The Two Seasons does not provide a shuttle or ferry, you will have to book that yourself.
All travelers arriving in the Philippines are required to complete the eTravel registration before boarding. You'll need to present your eTravel QR code at check-in, so don't skip this step. Registration opens within 72 hours before your arrival and is free.

Station 1, White Beach, Boracay Island, Philippines
Another option on White Beach. Note that Two Seasons does not provide a shuttle or ferry from Caticlan — you'll need to arrange your own transfer to the island.
March is dry season in Boracay with sunny skies, low humidity, and temperatures around 25-30°C (77-86°F). Perfect beach weather!
The Philippines is a cash-friendly country, and small bills are especially useful for tipping drivers, porters, and service staff. We recommend bringing or withdrawing smaller denominations (₱50, ₱100, ₱200) to make things easier during your stay.
March-May is summer in the Philippines and you may notice patches of green algae along parts of the shoreline. This is a natural and seasonal occurrence in Boracay, typically caused by warmer water temperatures during the summer, sunlight, and tidal conditions.
The algae is not dangerous and does not pose a health risk, it's simply part of the island's natural marine ecosystem.
Most nationalities can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days. Check with your country's embassy for specific requirements.
No vaccines are required to enter the Philippines. That said, routine vaccinations (MMR, tetanus, etc.) are always a good idea when traveling internationally.
English is an official language of the Philippines and is spoken widely throughout the country. In Manila and on Boracay, you'll find that nearly everyone speaks English fluently — getting around, ordering food, and asking for help will all be easy.
The Philippines has an incredible food culture. Here are some dishes and drinks you shouldn't leave without trying.
Jollibee's iconic fried chicken — a Filipino fast food institution. You have to go.
Seasoned fries from the beloved Filipino mall staple. Flavored powder fries done right.
A rich peanut-based stew with oxtail or tripe, served with shrimp paste (bagoong). A classic Filipino comfort dish.
Grilled chicken marinated in calamansi, vinegar, and annatto. Best eaten over garlic rice with the drippings poured on top.
Sizzling chopped pork (usually cheek and ear) seasoned with calamansi and chili. A Filipino bar food classic.
Deep-fried pork belly with shatteringly crispy skin. Simple, perfect, dangerous.
Sweet and smoky pork skewers grilled on the street. A peso-a-stick snack you'll come back to again and again.
Filipino spring rolls — crispy fried and filled with pork or vegetables. A staple at every celebration.
The unfried version, wrapped in a soft crepe with heart of palm, vegetables, and a sweet peanut sauce.
Milkfish — the national fish of the Philippines. Try it grilled, fried, or stuffed (relyenong bangus).
Filipino ceviche — fresh raw fish cured in vinegar and calamansi with ginger and chili. Perfect on the beach.
A soft, slightly charred rice cake baked in banana leaves and topped with salted egg and coconut. A holiday and street food favorite.
The Filipino take on crème caramel — richer and denser than the French version, made with egg yolks and condensed milk.
Philippine mangoes are widely considered the best in the world. Fresh mango juice is sweet, bright, and nothing like what you've had at home.
The ultimate Filipino dessert — a tall glass of crushed ice, sweetened beans, jellies, ube, leche flan, and evaporated milk. Mix it all together.
A few spots in Boracay we love and think you should check out.
A laid-back beachside spot with great cocktails and a fun vibe. Perfect for a sunset drink.
Fresh fruit shakes and snacks right on the beach. A must-stop for a refreshing break.
A Boracay institution. Famous for their fresh fruit shakes — try the mango.
One of the best Filipino restaurants on the island. Creative takes on classic dishes in a beautiful setting.
Go-to spot for chicken inasal — smoky, juicy, and best eaten over garlic rice.
A rooftop bar and café with great views over the island. A solid spot for coffee during the day or drinks at night.
A great spot for a relaxed meal with a mix of local and international flavors.
A cozy spot with good food and a warm, soulful atmosphere.
Fresh seafood done simply and well. A great choice for a beachside dinner.
A bright, cheerful café perfect for breakfast or brunch. Great coffee and egg dishes.
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. We know that traveling to Boracay is a big commitment with a large cost. Having you there to celebrate with us is more than enough.
For those of you who have insisted on giving, you can send us something via Venmo or Zelle if you'd like to contribute to our honeymoon or house fund.
Everything you need to know
Our wedding ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 7, 2027 at 4:00 PM at the Shangri-La Boracay in the Alon Garden. The reception will follow immediately after.
Welcome Night (Friday, March 5): All white.
Wedding Day (Sunday, March 7): Tropical formal! Think lightweight suits in linen or a barong for men. For women, think flowy dresses, elegant resort-wear, or a formal terno or Maria Clara. Leave the heavy fabrics at home and embrace the island.
Check out our attire mood board for inspiration.
Fly into Caticlan Airport (MPH) from Manila or Cebu, then take a 10-15 minute boat ride to Boracay Island. Shangri-La offers private transfers from the Boracay jetty.
The fastest and most reliable option is Grab, which is the Uber of the Philippines.
Boracay is small — only about 7km long — and easy to navigate. The most common way to get around is by e-trike (electric tricycle), which can be hailed anywhere along the main road for around ₱10-30 per person. The beachfront path along White Beach is also very walkable, with most restaurants and shops easily accessible on foot. Both Shangri-La and Discovery Shores offer shuttles for guests as well.
Most nationalities (including US, UK, Canada, Australia, and EU citizens) can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days. Please check with your country's Philippine embassy or consulate for specific requirements and make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
While we love your little ones, we have decided to keep our wedding an adults-only celebration, with the exception of family. We hope this allows everyone to relax and fully enjoy the evening. Thank you for understanding!
No vaccines are required to enter the Philippines. That said, routine vaccinations (MMR, tetanus, etc.) are always a good idea when traveling internationally.
We recommend staying at Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa where the wedding will take place. We've arranged special wedding room rates — email reservations.slbo@shangri-la.com with the subject "Reyes Tesija Wedding" and mention the wedding to receive the discounted rate. Full details are in the Where to Stay section. Discovery Shores Boracay is also a great option — it's our welcome party venue on Friday night.
March is one of the best months to visit Boracay! It's peak dry season with plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and temperatures around 77-86°F.
We've done our best to accommodate everyone! Please refer to your invitation for details on plus ones. If your invitation says "and guest," you're welcome to bring someone.
Reef-safe sunscreen, light and breathable clothing, swimwear, comfortable sandals, your wedding outfit, dancing shoes, a light cover-up for evenings, insect repellent, and any medications you may need. Make sure to bring small bills for tipping.
The Philippines uses Type A and Type B outlets (the same flat-pin plugs used in the US and Canada) at 220V / 60Hz. If you're traveling from the US, your plugs will fit without an adapter — but check that your devices support 220V (most modern electronics like phones, laptops, and cameras do). If you're coming from Europe, the UK, or Australia, you'll need a plug adapter. A universal travel adapter is always a safe bet.
Not at all! English is an official language of the Philippines and is spoken fluently throughout the country. In Manila and on Boracay, nearly everyone speaks English — you'll have no trouble getting around, ordering food, or asking for help.
That said, locals always appreciate the effort. Here are a few handy phrases:
| English | Filipino | Pronunciation |
|---|---|---|
| Hello | Kamusta | ka-MOOS-ta |
| Good morning | Magandang umaga | ma-gan-DANG oo-MA-ga |
| Good evening | Magandang gabi | ma-gan-DANG GA-bee |
| Please | Pakiusap | pa-kee-OO-sap |
| Thank you | Salamat | sa-LA-mat |
| Sorry | Pasensya na | pa-SEN-sha na |
| Excuse me | Makikiraan po | ma-kee-kee-RA-an po |
| How much does this cost? | Magkano ito? | mag-KA-no EE-to |
| Delicious | Masarap | ma-SA-rap |
| I love you | Mahal kita | ma-HAL kee-TA |
Your presence truly is the greatest gift, especially since you'll be traveling to celebrate with us! If you'd like to give a gift, we've set up a small registry and honeymoon fund, check out our Registry page for details. Please don't feel any obligation at all.
Please RSVP by August 1, 2026 so we can finalize all the arrangements. Since this is a destination wedding, the earlier you can confirm, the better. Especially for booking flights and accommodations at the best rates!
Yes! We're hosting a welcome party on Friday evening at Discovery Shores, followed by the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on Sunday at Shangri-La Boracay. We'll share a list of recommended activities closer to the date.
